In our series ‘I see a victory’ we are learning about the 7 times Jesus shed his blood for us, and the significance and application this has for our lives today.
The sixth shedding of the blood of Jesus, took place when the Roman soldiers nailed His feet to the cross.
“They pierced my hands and feet” Psalm 22:16
Jesus shed blood from His from His feet, so we can walk in and fulfil the perfect purpose of God.
Our feet are connected to our purpose, because every step we take leads us either closer, or further away from the will of God for our lives. “Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established.” Proverbs 4:26
Not one of us is a mistake, or here by accident, but God in His divine wisdom has established a purpose for each one of our lives. As part of this purpose, God has chosen each one of us, to tell others the good news of His love, cross, resurrection, and salvation.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesian 2:10
However, there is one who wants to hinder the purposes of God in our lives. His tactics haven’t changed, and just as in the Garden of Eden satan sought to remove Adam and Eve’s feet from the right path, his goal is to take us out of the will of God for our lives.
In Genesis 3:14-15, God promised that there was one coming that would crush the enemy under His feet.
“The Lord God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you will go, and dust you will eat all the days of your life; and I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.’”
Satan knew Jesus was the one who had come to crush him, that’s why in nailing His feet to the cross he thought he could escape divine judgement. What he didn’t realise, was that by the blood shed from this very nail would come his complete defeat!
Through the victory of the cross, the blood from the feet of Jesus enables us to walk again on the right path, to fulfil the divine assignment of God for our lives, and to live a life of purpose that will glorify God.
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Romans 10:15
Declare with me today,
“Through the power of the blood shed from the feet of Jesus, I can walk the right path, which is Jesus – the only way that leads me to the Father!”
