I See a Victory: Jesus Shed Blood From His Side

In our series ‘I see a victory’ we are learning about the 7 times Jesus shed his blood for us, and the significance and application this has for our lives today.

The seventh shedding of the blood of Jesus, took place when the Roman soldiers pierced his side with a spear.

“But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe.” John 19:34-35

The Psalmist prophesied, “I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; and You lay me in the dust of death.” Psalm:14-15

Jesus was faithful to the very end, pouring out His very last drop of blood because of His infinite love for us!

“Jesus is love and He is the answer to every need. Whoever chooses Him receives

all His provision. When the Son of God shed blood from His side, He gave His all.”

Pastor Cesar Castellanos

God has always taught His people that redemption comes through the shedding of blood, because Jesus poured out everything He is for us, we now have the right to receive the fullness of all He is.

Through the blood of Jesus shed from His side, we can now receive:

> Our full adoption as sons and daughters of God

In His moment of greatest need on the cross, God the Father turned His face from His beloved son, and Jesus experienced the ultimate rejection. He cried out in that moment, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1

The reason Jesus was rejected, was so that we could experience the full acceptance and unconditional love of our Father in heaven. Just one drop of His blood absorbs all rejection, bringing an explosion of the love of God into our hearts and lives.

> Full healing from rejection and emotional wounds

The word teaches us in Proverbs 4:23, that the heart is the wellspring of our lives, from where everything flows. When our hearts are filled with rejection, pain, brokenness, and the like, that is just what will flow from us, and what we will experience. Once free from the pain of rejection, we will be able to bear good fruit once again in our lives. His heart was literally broken, so ours could be healed!

> The full fruit of His character

Jesus had a perfect character and gave us the best example of how a person’s life should be. Since we too have been adopted as children of God, we must understand,  that the Father now desires us to reflect His character in every area of our lives.

“…until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13

Many people who profess faith in Jesus and who love God, still fail to have the character of Christ. We cannot become like Christ in our own strength, but by understanding, trusting in and applying the blood of Jesus to our lives, we can begin to experience the fruit of the Holy Spirits work in our hearts.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Declare and pray with me today,

“Through the power of the blood shed from Your side Jesus, all fear is removed from my life and replaced with Your perfect love. You exchange my bitterness for joy, my worry for patience, my ungodliness for Your kindness, my evil for Your goodness, my doubt for Your faithfulness, my rebellion for humility,  and my lack of self-restraint for self-control. I praise You Lord, In Christ Jesus, Amen!”

The ‘I See a Victory’ series is based on the teaching from the book, ‘Just One Drop of the Blood of Jesus’, by Pastor Cesar Castellanos, available to buy on iBooks.
