In our series ‘I see a victory’ we are learning about the 7 times Jesus shed his blood for us, and the significance and application this has for our lives today.
The fourth shedding of the blood of Jesus took place when the Roman soldiers beat Him and pulled out His beard.
“I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting. Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.” Isaiah 50:6-7
Jesus shed blood from His face to restore the image of God in our lives!
In God’s original design, mankind was made in His image to reflect His nature and character.
“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness,” Genesis 1:26
The word ‘image’ represents the external nature, the word ‘likeness’ the internal nature. Therefore, God created man to fully reflect the entirety of the character of God. You were created as a reflection of your perfect Father in heaven.
When man sinned, the image and likeness of God in his life became tainted and disfigured. From that moment, every single one of us has been born with the wrong image. Jesus however, came from heaven, conceived of the holy spirit, uncontaminated by sin, to open up a new way for us. He began a new bloodline, and gave us the opportunity to recover the image of God in us.
When we have a wrong self-image, we are filled with feelings of shame, rejection and hopelessness. However, the opposite is true when we see ourselves the way God does.
When we have a correct self-image, when we know who we are in Christ, we will experience and rest in the love, joy, acceptance, freedom, and hope that comes from knowing him as our Father!
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
You are God’s masterpiece! When you apply the blood from the face of Jesus to your life, you will be able to see yourself as God sees you and feel like a beloved child.

“The blood shed from the face of Jesus, removes all fear, confusion, shame, and humiliation from my life!”
