In our series ‘I see a victory’, we are learning about the 7 times Jesus shed His blood for us, and the significance and application this has for our lives today.
The third shedding of the blood of Jesus took place when the Roman soldiers placed a crown of thorns upon His head, and beat Him with a staff.
“Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around Him. They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand. Then they knelt in front of Him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. They spit on Him, and took the staff and struck Him on the head again and again.” Matthew 27:28-30
The blood of Jesus from the crown of thorns, reverses the curse that entered the world through the sin of Adam, releasing blessing and conquest.
We know that throughout history crowns have represented authority and power. In Genesis 1:28, God crowned Adam and Eve when he blessed them with authority over all creation. However, man’s authority was conditional on his obedience.
After Adam ate the fruit and sinned, he gave away the authority he’d been entrusted to satan. Significantly, the entirety of the curse that fell upon the earth because of Adam’s sin, was represented by thorns and thistles.
“Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” Genesis 3:17-19
The effects of the curse upon the earth:
- > Financial Curses, never seeming to have enough despite hard work and effort.
- > Inability to conquer new areas; family, financial, political, business, ministry, or social.
- > Territorial curses opposing conquest.
In his book ’Just One Drop of the Blood of Jesus’, Pastor Cesar says,
“Thousands of years later executioners mocked Jesus, making Him the ‘king of the curse’. However, at that moment as the throne pierced His brow, and His blood ran down, the curse on the earth was broken forever! Because the blood of Jesus had never been contaminated by sin. He took on every curse, he actually became the curse, so every curse on your life, on your family could be broken!”
The effects of the blood of Jesus on the earth:
- > Conquering in new settings; buying land, gaining political influence, extending the ministry, opening new business’ etc.
- > Living in financial blessing regardless of social status. Prosperity is not an excess of money, it means having the provision we need, without depending on our own efforts.
- > Uprooting territorial curses that operate in a specific area.
Jesus, through the sacrifice of His blood, recovered everything Adam had lost!
Today, Jesus through the power of His blood takes every ‘crown of curse’ from our heads, and in exchange places upon us, his crown of glory, authority, honour and blessing.
I invite you to declare with me today,
“The blood of Jesus removes every curse that touched my finances and the land beneath my feet. By His blood, I am more than a conqueror!”
